Baukia Series – Hijab Design Collection (1st Series)
The Baukia Series is a limited hijab collection created for Michienism, a local fashion brand rooted in the rich culture of West Sumatra. “Baukia” is a Minangkabau word meaning “carved,” and this series draws direct inspiration from the traditional woodcarving patterns found on the iconic Rumah Gadang—the traditional Minangkabau house.
Each design in this collection is named after a specific Minangkabau carving motif, including:
- Itiak Pulang Patang
- Jarek Takaka
- Kaluak Paku
- Kuciang Lalok
- Lapiah Batang Jarami
- Limpapeh
- Ruso Balari Dalam Ransang
- Saik Wajik
- Siriah Gadang
- Tangguak Lamah
These patterns are more than just decorative—they carry deep philosophical meanings and are part of Minangkabau visual storytelling. In this series, the motifs are reimagined in a bold and contemporary style using aesthetic vector lines, detailed geometry, and refined color compositions.
By merging traditional heritage with modern graphic techniques, the Baukia Series presents a brave and elegant statement of cultural pride. Each hijab becomes a wearable piece of art, honoring the ancestral craftsmanship while embracing modern fashion design.
